Valentines Day crafts

Well,  we are a few short days away from February which means we're running out of time to decide on our Valentine's projects.

Here are some fun options from CTMH:

This first is made from our Cut Above treat bag kit and coordinating stamps.  Slate (grey) ink was used on this sample but you could also use black, red or pink and it would be fine. Just add candy!

The cards below use several stamp sets.  Love Ya SillyXOXO and doodles designs..
inks:  pear, lagoon, black, cotton candy and ruby.

The photo below...I LOVE.  The cake topper is so easy but adds a great touch.  You can stamp and trim around these easy to cut shapes.  Click here for the stamp images

The grey card is created by embossing the cardstock with our heart embossing folder..

If you have any of our treat tubes, I created this fun project for my January Kit of the Month that I mailed earlier this month.

Here's a recap of my Kids Valentine cards using Heartstrings Picture My Life cards and the Forever in my Heart stamp set.

NO matter which project you create- these fun Puffy stickers will be the perfect "top it off" accessory!

No time to order?  Here's some fun printable ideas I found on pinterest:

Year Noted

January comes to an end next week and the Year Noted kit will no longer be available.

I really love some of the artwork that is shown on the CTMH "Make it from your Heart" blog and wanted to share that here for those of you that have never heard of or seen the blog first hand.

http://blog.closetomyheart.com/2015/01/16/highlight-this-years-faves-with-year-noted/

Here's one of the layouts shown on the page (NOT MY LAYOUT... this is ONE layout from the link above)

This kit is right on trend with fun colors and a pop of gold in the sheet of gold stickers that comes with the kit.

When you spend $50 you can add the kit (several sheets of paper in these fun colors, a sheet of gold stickers and a set of limited edition stamps)  for ONLY $5.

If you want to create a fun mini-album with this set (see my sample below) then you can instead choose a $10 option with the supplies in the $5 option PLUS  a mini kraft album

Valentine banner with Cricut Artiste

Here's a cute banner that goes together rather quickly if you have the Close To My Heart cricut cartridge Artiste.  {see image booklet here}

First I'll show the banner, then some individual images and finally, the photos of which page in the Cricut Artiste booklet these shapes came from.

Left rosette:  (yes my craft room wall is green....;)  )

Middle rosette:

Right rosette:

Back side showing how I attached the twine hanger in a puddle of liquid glass:

pages from Cricut artiste:  NOTE that there are several different rosette designs and all are great.  I simply chose 3 different designs and cut two pieces of each.  Accordian fold on the pre-scored lines and stick your ends together with liquid glass.  Hold for a minute till the bond is tight.  let dry before flattening the "tube" you end up with into a flatter circle shape.

(circles on front and back of each rosette are cut at 2" and adhered with liquid glass.  circles on the back side match the rosette and are used with a big puddle of liquid glass to attach the rosette so it lays flat.  simply lay circle on table.  put puddle of liquid glass in middle and around edge, flatten rosette and lay on top.  Place object (i.e. pair of scissors, ink pad or other weighty item) on top for 20 minutes till rosette is stuck and liquid glass dry or drying.   Top circle is in an alternate color for design purposes.

click the below photos to see them better.

Studio J: Snowhaven winter layout

I love the ease of Studio J. I still create lots of traditional pages, but sometimes you want to just sit and veg in front of the tv and not pull all your photos out.  I use studio J primarily on photos I haven't yet printed (why pay to print the same photos twice?)

I just love the way this turned out.  Thought I'd share what I did with you!

Click here for a copy of the directions I created and feel free to create your own!

Studio J: Elementary Holiday Concert layout

WOW!  this layout took 7 minutes TOP and I LOVE it.

Right now, and for a limited time (I think ending Feb. 28) CTMH brought out a limited edition Express Collection for your holiday photos.

They designed it using Yuletide Carol from the current Annual Expressions book.

Here are the layouts in the kit:

And here is what I created using a variety of photos from this year's concert.  I ordered two copies of this layout, one for my son's book and one for my daughter's.  YEAH!  I am happy to be catching up on my scrapping ;)

Want to try studio J?  click here

open or login to your account (it's required to save your work but I have no access to view your info at all)

Upload photos.
You'll be prompted to choose between express collections or custom layout.  You'll find these layouts in the Yuletide Carol Express Collection.

While you can not add any stickease , you CAN edit and add photo/ journaling wells.  So go in and play!

National Papercrafting Month- Year noted

January is National Papercrafting Month and I'm especially in love with this year's special.

It's totally in tune with my new year's resolution to do more crafting for (and about)me.

There are two versions of the Year Noted kit.  Both come with some really beautiful papers. (2 sheets of 1 double sided paper design plus several sheets of coordinating cardstock.), plus a gold sheet of stickers and a PERFECT stamp that I love.

The difference in kits is that one version comes without the kraft colored mini album and the other comes with it.

I opted to go with the album version.  I REALLY miss all the traveling for vacations that I used to do and made a resolution this year to get back to the basics and travel with my family...just for fun!

This mini album will be a great way to keep track of our 2015 adventures.  I can't wait to show you the pages and photos I add as we trek across the country this year.

As I was creating this, I realized that maybe I should share my super easy way to stamp straight when using alphabet stamps.

1.   I line my alphabet (in this case... the numbers for my year) up exactly how I want them on my project, playing with spacing and alignment.

2.  I lay the block directly over top , the letters will stick, lift off the page and be ready for inking.  This way you already know they are lined up and will be arranged just how you wanted them when you ink.

There you go.  A simple method for straight words when using an alphabet or number stamp set ;)
