CTMH Life is Wonderful monthly hop

I love this time of the month, when consultants gather and share ideas using the new stamp of the month set.

This month 48 or so consultants are all sharing artwork using the new "Life is Wonderful" stamp set available July 1-31, 2015.

As always, our Stamp of the Month sets are $17.95 or only $5 with a $50 order.

If you are coming from Lisa's blog, you are headed in the right direction.  If you're just joining the hop here on my blog- no worries! The next link is at the end of this post and if all goes well you'll be able to circle around the hop and see them all.

Here's a photo of the stamp set:

I really wanted to make something for my office at work.  It's not often I have photos of me with my kids because I am usually the one taking photos.  My husband took the photo I used on this project while we were in Alabama on Spring Break this past spring.
It was a humid, misty day and we were in an old Spanish American war fort.
How To:  I used some simple acrylic paints to paint the CTMH 6x6 canvas.
I "inked" the "life is wonderful" stamps from the stamp of the month with Black Acrylic paint.  I stamped the words on the canvas.  It stamped very light and more like an outline.  I used a small paintbrush and black paint to fill in the words on the canvas and make them more BOLD.
The "is" was unrecognizable so I just used white acrylic paint to add the word in.
I used liquid glass to adhere some gold sequins (they are self adhesive but I was worried they'd pop off after a short time.)
After adding my photo with liquid glass, Some gold shimmer trim and arrow washi tape finished it off.
There you have it!  A simple (it took 20 minutes start to finish once I got my supplies together) piece of art for my office!

I hope you enjoyed your stop here!  Now head on over to Kathy's blog to see what she has created for this month's hop!

Organization- Project life and Picture my life compatible

Do you use Project life or Picture my life (CTMH version) for pocket style scrapbooking?  If you don't scrapbook pocket style, do you use the cards for traditional scrapbooking or even cards?  I DO!  I love it- I really do.  A quick little card can add a little style to any project.

The problem is, all these little cards need someplace to go.  I decided to research what others do and realized I have just the solution at my fingertips!  The medium organizer by CTMH is perfect for storing all of my little cards.  I just ordered 1 (ok... 2!) to organize all of my cards.

Here's a photo and link to the blog I found showing off these organizers:
If you're looking at this like... why didn't I think of that?  You can click here to find out more about these organizers.

If you're thinking... Picture my Life cards?  what are those?  You can click here to see our current designs.

BONUS:  If after reading this post you decide to place an order for the medium organizer and any 1 Picture My Life kit- I'll mail you an assortment of 25 PML cards in a variety of themes to build your stash.  (valid June 23- midnight EST on June 30).  The PML cards will arrive separately within 1-2 weeks.

Rolled flowers: how to video

I recently taught a class on rolled flowers:

WE used the quilling tool to create the flowers shown above.
CTMH has a video on using the quilling tool and I thought I'd show that here.

When I use the quilling tool to create these flowers... I also use my trusty liquid glass.  After rolling you'll be left with a "roundish" flat surface.  Apply liquid glass liberally and push your rolled flower into the glass, hold for a minute to allow it time to "stick".  Practice makes perfect.

You can cut these spiral flowers from either Art Philosophy or Artiste.  There are different designs on each.

My Crush : Wildwood travel scrapbooking

Last week I showed you some supplies I purchased through this month's My Crush promotion :

I finally printed my photos and sat to create.  I started with the first set of pages in the book:
I chose my photos and some of the pages and stickers from the Wildwood assortment.  LOVE the colors.

My page came out so cute!  I used some 3x4 flip flaps to make a mini album and to hold our souvenir pressed pennies.  Some arrow washi tape helped hold it all together and hide the adhesive from my flip flaps.

When you flip through the mini album you come to the underneath section which is where I wrote about what we did.

I'll pop in with my Mississippi page soon.. I had trouble loading it into this post so I'll just create a separate post for that layout in a day or two.  In the meantime... enjoy!

How fun are all of these ideas!

If you decide to put together your own summer ice cream party- let me know!  I'd love to see your ideas.

Lets Host: ice cream party day 1

Today marks the first in a monthly series of party planning posts.

On the 15th (or thereabouts ) of every month I'll be posting some fun themed party planning posts.  Since this month's stamp of the month is "Ice Cream dream" it totally made sense to plan an "ice cream party" for June.

To plan a party, you need an invitation!
I saw a fun card on pinterest that looked like an Etch a Sketch so my card is based off of that using CTMH supplies:
Cut your red cardstock for a standard size card (8.5 x 5.5 inches.)  Fold in half.
Use a corner rounder to round edges.  Cut circles in 1.25 inch (1 1/4) size with either a punch or cricut.  Cut a rectangle from the middle of the front of your red card (OR just cut a rectangle and adhere to the front of the card.)  The size of your rectangle should be 3.25x 4.5.  If you cut the rectangle OUT of the red, back with a whisper cardstock in 4x5.25 size.
Use slate ink to stamp "party time" and an ice cream cone.
At the top of the card, in versamark ink, stamp "you are invited".  Add white embossing powder to the words, brushing off any excess.  Use a heat gun to melt and set the powder.
Add party details to the inside.
Once you've invited your guests... you need some décor:
I'm a busy mom, so I choose to mix "store-bought" with "hand made".  For instance, I could have cut this green banner from our pear cardstock using one of our great Cricut collections.  Instead, I found this green banner with about 9-10 polka dot banners (the solid green is the back side of the banner) on clearance at Target for about $1.50.  I simply cut "yum" from black cardstock using Cricut Artbooking.  I stamped a few ice creams from our Stamp of the Month and colored with our shinhan markers.  I added a black border on each banner flag with our black journaling pen

You need a way to display some ice cream toppings...

I found these Strawberry baskets at Michaels- 10 to a pack on clearance at Michaels right after the new year... for under $2.  I used 3, along with some pear green tissue paper to tie my colors together.  Each was filled with some "loose" toppings like marshmallows, chocolate chips and peanuts.
The spoons were decorated with 3 strips of Ruby red Washi tape at the ends.
If you like to send your guests home with a party favor... here's a fun way to keep with the theme:
Create some "ice cream" treats with sugar cones and cotton candy.  I found the cotton candy at the Dollar Tree and hit a big sale at our local Meijer- a box of sugar cones for $1... yeah!

Pear cardstock, white cardstock and some shinhan markers with the Teacher Appreciation stamp set to write "thank you".  I topped it off with the ice cream cone to coordinate with my invitation and banner from the Ice Cream Dream stamp set.

*** NOTE:  Ice Cream Dream is the stamp of the month and ONLY available in June!  $17.95 OR only $5 with a $50 purchase***
