"Boo" mini album Tutorial

As promised... I'm posting the directions for making my little "boo" album that I had on display at my expo this past weekend... I'd promised the attendees eyeing it up that I would let them know how to make their own.
First things first... choose the photos you want in your album- slip them into your flip flap protectors.  The flip flaps have a strip of adhesive- remove the protective covering and adhere your flip flaps together.

Next:  Cut two pieces of cardstock (my green cardstock shown) at 4.5 x 7 inches.  You'll want to cut your "binding"  (my black cardstock) at 2x 4.5 inches.

I then cut coordinating cardstock at 6.5 x 4.25 inches. (this is the blue cardstock).  I adhered it to the green such that the 3 edges that will show are all evenly spaced - doesn't show in this particular photo but it does on the finished product photo.  You'll also want to adhere the binding on.  I recommend starting from the bottom and working your way up.  so adhere your bottom cover to the binding.  Then your flip flaps (which have adhesive on the bottom... ) to the bottom cover.  Then the top cover and lastly the binding to the top cover.

At some point - you'll need to form a crease in your cover so that it can easily be flipped open... I added my creast after decorating my front cover but I highly recommend creasing FIRST so you know where not to place bulky embellishments that prevent folding/ opening.

Once you have your crease- I highly recommend a more permanent binding besides the adhesive you added.  I opted to whole punch with my crop-o-dile and use ribbon to complete my binding.  Then I tied a few other coordinating colors of ribbon around the main ribbon binding- I love the way it looks!
Once the album is put together- decorate however you wish.  Since I made this album to hold Halloween photos from last year- I used the new HooligansLevel 2 paper pack and My Stickease to complete the album.  I also incorporated Pear, Lagoon and Sunset Mini Medleys.  I also used our new Pearl Opaques to add dimension around the "boo".  If you click on the photo you can see it a little better

Here's a side shot to show some of the dimension... I used some pop dots to pop the pumpkin and star sticker as well as the lagoon embellishment off the page.
That's it for today... I'll be back tomorrow night with my contribution to the October Stamp of the Month blog hop!
