June SOTM Blog Hop and don't forget the Blog Candy!

Hi There!
Welcome to the June SOTM Blog Hop where over 60 consultants will give you a wide variety of ideas using the Wonderful Friend stamp set available June 1-30th only!
First off-  if you came from Melissa's blog- you're headed in the right direction... but if not- no worries because the blog hop is a continuous loop so once you're done here the next link is at the bottom of this post.

I have already posted one card using this set this month and you can find it here.  This card I'm showing today is a very simple card-  I had to design a card for a swap I was in and had to use the papers and cardstock from the Passages kit... which I had totally forgotten to order!  Luckily I'd picked up a 6x6 paper swatch of all the new papers so I had SOMETHING to use... but alas- it's just a small strip.  I made up for it by using the diamond pattern to make a wider stripe behind the paper.  I kept it simple so I could give this card to my dad for Father's Day...
What you can't tell- is that the circle piece is pop-dotted above the square.

Hop on over to Barbara's blog to see what she's got in store for you!

P.s  If you haven't left a comment on the post below yet... go ahead and do so now!  You can win a kit to create the 4 cards shown in the post.  All supplies are ready for assembly except for a couple minor things you need to do.  All images are pre-stamped!  No stamps or inks requred- just scissors and adhesive!  Contest ends Tuesday at midnight EST.

Fundraiser and Blog Candy!

Yesterday I held a fundraiser card class along with my friend Sandy to raise money for her friend who desperately needs a double lung transplant.  My last post alerted you to the fact that I'd be back this weekend for photos of the cards we made....and a free kit to one lucky person!  So- here are the photos.

The first card uses Tulip and White Cardstock, Splendor level 2 paper, With Love stamp set, Holiday buttons (Cranberry), Colonial White Designer brad, silver brads and Moonstruck, Creme Brulee, Topiary and Tulip ink pads ***note- the card kits include Antique Copper brads- not silver****

The second card uses Twilight, White Daisy and Juniper inks, A Tweet stamp set , Perfect Day Level 2 ( I think that's the pack the patterned paper is from?), Twilight and Chocolate inks.

The "Treasure Life" is stamped on a longer piece of white cardstock.  On either side of the words- the paper is folded back and then forward again- there's about 1/4 inch folded under neath the words.  The remaining length on either side of the words had a little triangle piece cut out to create a little banner.  The chocolate sponging was done AFTER all the folds and cutting took place ( The kit includes this piece PRE-FOLDED AND CUT to make your life easy :)

All the sponging you see is also done for you!  The kits were prepared (and are still being prepared ;) such that ANYONE can put them together- whether you are a papercrafter or not!

The third card is very simple and cute.  Supplies:  Sweet Leaf and white cardstock, Cherry-O level 2 paper and A Posey stamp set.  Inks:  Chocolate, Sweet Leaf and Tulip.  Also included- foam dots.  You will need to cut your flower out but it is pre-stamped.  The circle center is even pre punched for you!

The final card is probobly my favorite one of the four.  It uses Creme Brulee, Brown Bag and white cardstock, Garden Green Ribbon from a previous Creative Basics set no longer available, Grown With Love and Thank You stamp sets, Olive, Sorbet and Brown Bag inks (with some 2nd generation stamping), and Liquid Applique dotted in the center of each blossom.

So what do you think?  Would you like to win a card kit of your very own to create these 4 cards?

Leave a comment on this post before midnight EST on Tuesday June 1st and I'll randomly pick one person to win a card kit of your own PLUS I'll still donate $6 for this card kit to the cause!

I have more kits available as well so for $10 plus $3 shipping- you can purchase this card kit!  $6 from the sale of each kit is donated so the kit itself is a GREAT value at only $4!!  I do take paypal and propay payments so send me a note at tracikeagen  @  msn dot com  (scrunch it together and make the dot a .  )

*** NOTE about the kits-  You only need to supply adhesive to assemble the cards- no inks or stamps necessary- EVERYTHING is completed except card assembly!

blog candy coming...

I've been soooo busy this last week creating lots of fun artwork to show... but haven't had time to take photos and upload them.  I am in the process of cutting paper and packing up 60 card kits for a fundraiser.  Tomorrow is the class itself and then ALL the rest of the supplies will be sold as kits to raise money for a local man who needs a double lung transplant due to a genetic defect.  He has been told by the transplant "people" that he will likely incur approx. $80,000 in out of pocket expenses related to the transplant (including out of state travel/ living etc)  I am helping out by putting together this fundraiser.  It's 4 cards for $10 and $6 goes towards the fundraiser.  The other $4 covers my supply costs, ink useage etc. which is quite a bit for 60 cards!

This weekend I'll be posting a photo of the 4 cards- and in anticipation of reaching 20,000 hits (i'm less than 20 away!)  I'll be offering one kit up as blog candy- I'll donate the $6 to the fundraiser AND one lucky winner will be able to create 4 fun cards!
Check back this weekend for your chance to win!

my new toy...

Last week was my birthday... and Mother's Day.  My hubby got me (...errr.. I bought and told him it was my present..) a new cricut.  I'd used one a few weeks back to design the treat bags for my daughter's birthday party (which isn't even until September) but only had time to design one bag on my friend's cricut... so of course I needed my own machine to finish...right?
Here's the treat bag I designed a few weeks back..  I used the Once Upon a Princess Cartridge and all Close To My Heart Products:  Cardstock:  Bamboo, Blush, Hollyhock, Chocolate, Sweet Leaf and White Daisy and Vanilla Cream
Embellishments:  Hollyhock glitter brad, sparkle, glitz glitter, Colonial White designer ribbon.
Inks:  same as cardstock colors

The layout is what I made last week when I finally had time to take the poor cricut out of the box... it sat for several days!  I used both the Once Upon a Princess and Paisley cartridges with my CTMH supplies.  Sorry about the glare on the photo- I also took photos with the pictures on the layout but I really wanted to show the "purpose" of the layout which was these dress-up photos!
Supplies:  Animal Cookies Level 2 paper pack, Cardstock:  Citrus Leaf, Blush, Brown Bag, Lilac Mist, Spring Iris, Sweet Leaf, Tulip
Emellishments:  Designer Glitter brads, White Daisy Just Blooms, Color Ready Alphabet (Bold), Sparkles
Stamps:  Small Chocolate alpha
I believe if you click on the photo you will see a larger picture for more detail!!  But just in case- here's a close up of the unicorn.
Hope you enjoy this little peek into what I've been up to lately!
Also-  I will have some kits of this layout available at the Greater Galesburg Day Craft Show in Galesburg, MI the day before Father's Day.

May club cards

I posted the Disney layout for club already but am just posting the card selection.  I needed to design the final card last night and was leaning towards a masculine card since I don't do too many of those... and I wanted to teach a technique that maybe my "regulars" hadn't tried yet.  This is what I came up with for this month:

first:  my masculine card- perfect for Father's Day.  Used the puddle pad technique shown here with colors Cranberry, Desert Sand and Smokey Plum... I love the background paper sooo much that I didn't want to cover up too much of it.  I didn't take a photo of the inside but a sentiment from the June SOM was used inside.
The second card uses a color scheme and general layout that I saw on Nichol Heady's blog last week (I'm in a hurry but will post the link this week to the card I saw).  Colors:  Sunflower, Sweet Leaf and Desert Sand with the "With Love" stamps and some glitz glitter and antique copper bitty brad.  A little band of vellum was added (as I was sort of following Nichol's card and she used vellum)- but honestly- it barely shows in the photo.
Lastly- the final card.  It uses some Topstitch paper ( I have TONS!).  I used my cricut Once Upon a Princess cartridge to cut the scallops, which are also pop dotted.  The ribbon is Stampin Up (yes I'm using SU ribbon... my club members are my friends and they buy from lots of places... club is the one time where I use contraband products on my projects- this ribbon was something I'd received free during sale-a-bration last year and it matches sweet leaf PERFECTLY)

I also used our Antique Copper mini medley( photo corners in the photo) to top off the card... it's really cute In real life!  I had ordered about 13 Antique copper mini medleys just for the ribbon slides and now have all the other supplies left from the kits!   Well that's it today- but stop in tomorrow because I've already scheduled a post showing some projects made with my new cricut!

birthday fun!

Oh my goodness...  my little guy turned ONE this past week.  It seems a few short months since posting his baby photos... like this one:

Here he is at 13 days old.  Love those tiny little hands!
Now this one year old had BLONDE hair and the bluest eyes!  Such a cutie!
Here is the fun barnyard cake and animals I made for the party-  I got the idea from Family Fun magazine several months ago and set it aside.  You'll see two names on the cake- Kaden is my little guy- Nathan is his cousin that was born one day before him... We celebrated together!  The next photos is Nathan himself! He is so dang cute- we live a few hours apart and don't see him often.  It's fun to get the boys together and see how they react with each other.
And of course... why have a birthday if you can't eat cake?  I'm pretty sure the boys enjoyed their party!

May Club layout

Hello!  I hope you had a great weekend!!  I certainly did...  I had lots of play time today in my scrap basement!  This photo is of a quick and easy layout I designed for my club members to create this month.  There's no title because I don't actually have photos for this layout so I'll hold off on a title till the next time we head to Disney.

I also didn't include a title because I don't want to limit my club members to strictly thinking about Disney (in case they don't have photos!!) I'll have the entire Thrill Ride stamp set out so they can use something else if needed... like the roller coaster stamp or something.  They could also turen this into a Birthday theme by leaving the castle and circle "Mickey" ears off the page.  The colors are pretty gender neutral.

Supplies:  zippidee Level 2, Thrill Ride stamps, Dimensional Elements Stars, Fuzzy felt , Sparkles, Black and Creme Brulee ink

Don't let this photo fool you!

A lot of people might not like this photo because it's dark... but I love the lighting- It really makes that scowl stand out!! Lol...  but don't worry- she was posing and this is only one of 6 pictures I took... she was smiling in most of them- but I just love this one!
