slight blog hiatus

I'm so sorry for the lack of posts- it's not because I'm too busy or don't have things to post.. it's because My basement (where ALL of my scrapbooking is done/ stored etc) flooded last week... while the basement itself is finally dry- the drywall is still damp and there are industrial sized fans and a dehumidifier set up trying to dry it out. I could technically start setting things up again since there's only drywall in one end of the basement... but the fans are so loud and so strong that A) my paper would probobly blow all over the room and B) I wouldn't be able to hear myself think!! It's really that loud. Today I cranked the heat up to 75 in my house and tried shutting all the upstairs vents to direct the heat downstairs... but that really doesn't work that well!! My house was soooo toasty when I got home from work today that I was sweating my butt off and had to turn it down for a while.

At any rate- as quick as I can get back to working in my room- I'll be posting on my blog- I have several cards to take photos of that could be posted now- but they are lost in the chaos at the moment!!
See you soon!

Butterfly Wishes

I love this month's Stamp of the Month set by Close To My Heart. I used this set to create a bookmark that I showed off not too long ago and today's card is another using these pretty butterflies.

This is a card I designed and taught at a home gathering last weekend. This is what I did: I cut two Crystal Blue cardstock pieces- one was a half inch smaller in each direction than the larger piece. To the smaller piece: I clear embossed the smaller butterfly. I used my rubber brayer to roll Indian Corn Blue ink overtop the piece with clear butterflies. Once I was happy with the color- I used a tissue to rub over the clear butterflies and remove any ink sitting on top. It really made my C. Blue butterflies pop out! Next I Silver embossed a "flying" butterfly on vellum and cut around leaving a small vellum border (not necessary but helped prevent the vellum from ripping. I adhered the silver butterfly just at the body part so the wings are kind of "floating"- very cute! The sentiment from the set was inked with Indian Corn Blue.

Christmas Card Weeks 8&9

Yep... I've fallen behind!! But this post will catch me up with my Christmas Cards. I missed week 8 because I was out of town from Friday till late Sunday and I was too tired to care about posting my card. The I dealt with dead camera batteries... with no idea where my charger went. Yesterday I created my week 9 card and was able to photograph everything but the camera didn't have enough charge to upload to my computer. Today I went out with my daughter and we picked up some new batteries- although I'd rather use my rechargeables!!

Here are the two cards I made for weeks 8 & 9:

I'm not sure if I mentioned it- but I'm extremely sick of my Christmas stamps! I keep very few sets on hand for any given holiday and always sell those that retire so that I can limit how many stamps I have (even though I still have well over 100 sets even with selling all the retired sets!!) But seriously- I need new Christmas stamps NOW if I'm going to continue the weekly Christmas card feature - so hopefully soon you'll see some newer images featured weekly!

This card uses the following supplies:

{Supplies: White Daisy, New England Ivy and Vineyard Berry cardstock, Magic Moments patterned paper, Vineyard Berry ink, HOliday Joy stamp set and Seafoam Ribbon with a clear rhinestone on the top of the ribbon knot.}

Week 9:

{Supplies: Life Delights Paper Pack, Crystal Blue and White Daisy Cardstock, Crystal Blue ink, White Daisy Grosgrain Ribbon, January Word Puzzle and Feathery Flakes stamp sets, Clear Sparkles (self adhesive rhinestones}
Both cards were designed using paper from my scrap bin- the patterned paper on the snowflake card actually has flowers but for some reason it made me think of snowflakes- and that was about all I had left of that paper so using it helped deplete more scraps :)
I have a few more cards to share this week and I'm going to set them up to auto-post- otherwise you may not see them for another week. Things around the household are getting busy as we prepare for our new baby's arrival in approximately 2 months! Plus next weekend is my sister-in law's baby shower and I'm working on the centerpieces and favors so I'll be busy each night working on those!
Be back as soon as I can :)
