Bella Birdhouse

I'm one of those people that loves to just browse Hobby Lobby or Michaels to see what jumps out at me and says "buy me"... I've bought a lot of "stuff" that way and most of it never gets used. When I was cleaning/ organizing my scrap area yesterday (which spans most of my basement) I came across a bag of this "stuff". One of those items was this birdhouse which was just an unfinished wood birdhouse. My daughter saw it and wanted me to make something for her room. I used the pretty new Bella papers, some paper flowers and added a homemade butterfly(ok- so the butterfly colors are interesting... pink and green... but it matched and she liked it!)
(** I feel compelled to add that the colors all match much better in real life than in this photo!!)
A few How To's... first - the taffy colored larger flower was colored with the CTMH Taffy marker-
The butterfly is a Just Blooms Big Pink flower- with two 2-petal sections cut off. The "body" of the butterfly is cut from white cardstock- covered in liquid glass and then green Sassy strands (I used New England Ivy- but most of the greens would work ok)- then more Liquid glass coated over the top and around the edges to make sure those fibers are stuck tight. The antennae are made from small spirals that were stretched apart.
The birdhouse was assembled with many layers of wook that was hard to take apart without breaking it to make the templates for my paper... so I found a spare piece of the foam that comes with CTMH stamps( often times CTMH and other companies use this foam in shipping crates to protect your order- I always save this!) and since it's see through a used a Sharpie permanent marker to draw the templates, cut them out- tape them to the back of my paper and cut... then I simply used Tombow permanent adhesive to adhere the paper and liquid glass to adhere the flowers, buttons and butterfly parts.
{Supplies: From CTMH: Bella Level 2 paper pack, Just Blooms Autumn Daisy, Just Blooms Big Pinks, pewter spirals, New England Ivy Sassy strands, Autumn buttons, liquid glass. Other: wooden birdhouse from Hobby Lobby}
