Here it is... directions to make your own background

Back when I posted my butterfly card(here) I mentioned that I would post directions on creating your own background. So- here it is... I got the idea one day when browsing Splitcoast Stampers.

1) Pick the theme and stamps of your project first- then select 2-3 re-inker colors to coordinate. Have 2 pieces of paper pre-cut in the size (or slightly larger) you want to create. 2) Cut a page protector to remove 2 sides (so that there is only one seem remaining) or use a report cover etc. Open the acetate and randomly drop your re-inker colors . Close the acetate and brayer over the re-inker to spread it out. 3) At this point- you need to work quickly- so once it is brayered make sure you are ready to work fast!! Open the acetate and place both of your pre-cut papers on the re-inker. 4) Quickly cover the paper with the plastic and brayer over top. The reason you add two pieces is so that the re-inker doesn't go to waste. You are covering two pieces at once instead of only one. Keep in mind- you will get vastly different results depending on how much ink of each color and how fast you work each time. 5) Lay the two pieces out to dry overnight (if you start to work on your cards
immediately- the adhesive may not stick due to the dampness of the paper). Once your paper has dried- you can use a stamp pad in a coordinating color to rub ink over the whole sheet to fill in the white- or depending on your design you may wish to leave the white spots there. Here is my completed card using this paper (as well as a second card - both were made by club members in March) . The colors used to create this background were: Autumn Terracotta, New England Ivy and Chocolate- with Autumn Terracotta ink from the stamp pad rubbed over to fill in the white spots.
The second card was made with Simple Beauty- the March Stamp of the month.
